Prisma Preforms Stringer Replacement

Curious if anyone has used the Prisma Preforms for stringer replacement? I spent some time on the phone with them and they are very high on my list for stringer replacement next spring. They also have a decking material that I am considering as well. I am now waiting for their sample kit but curious if anyone else has used their materials for replacement stringers.

Been discussed here a few times over the years however, everyone opted to make their own stringer's due to cost.

One search and I found this 'conflicting' info from their site:

* Achieved 50% total hull weight savings
* Reduced hull laminate weight 36%
* 1 lb/sq. ft. resin weight reduction
* 1000 pounds total weight savings
* 5 years of production history - NO WARRANTY ISSUES

So they think stringers are 50% the TOTAL hull weight of a 24' boat?
I don't think so!

I did stringers on a 27'er and I doubt I had "1000 pounds total weight", wood stringers, resin/cloth

Personally, I wouldn't use Styrofoam as an ACTIVE stringer! Engine mount stringer, main stringers etc

An inactive stringer, 'maybe', under the gunnel, cross braces, or to build a compartment.

I toured their factory a few yrs ago with the plant mgr. Quite impressive operation but the product is just foam with biaxial glass attached. The real factor in using their preforms is they are ready to set in and glass. There is no fitting or trimming. The stringers are molded to fit the mfgs hull exactly. It takes 5 minutes to set two stringers in a 30' boat and have them ready for the resin. It saves a lot of labor and waste. The foam stringer part is not structural. You can do almost the same thing using any core material to make a form. I've used cardboard tubes cut in half to glass over. It's called a hat stringer.
