Re: Problem With My Bow Hook!!

Way to overreact. Funny thing is, I'm doing exactly what the early posters suggested. And the reason I'm not going to fix it correctly is because I don't have the time or the ability or the money to tear the bow off, then tear the floor out, fix the hook, then put in a new floor, then a new bow. It would be great if I did but I don't.

who is over-reacting? you don't have to tear the boat apart.

why do people ask for help and then decide they don't need it?

i know i'd be changing lanes to get away from a boat strapped to it's trailer like that.

Hello 1008..

I agree that you should fix this problem right..

IT will be more simple then you might think m8.

Cut your 6" hole in the bulkhead as suggested. reach inside and cut another 6" hole in that " floor " wood. Reach in and feel for the nuts of your bow eye. If they are kinda lodged in your backing wood then you might have to hacksaw the thing off from the outside, and drift punch the studs into your bilge. Get a scrap of stainless sheet ( about 1/8 " is fine ) for a backing plate. reach in there and get some idea of preshape you need to make it. Drill your holes in the plate..dryfit your EYE. after all looks good .. goop it with 4200 and tighten that sucker up.

Go drink a beer after.

You might need to buy an extention for your ratchet..or mebee a universal for the socket.

If you have any more questions just ask us Iboaters :)

YD.

You are the one UNDER reacting. You don't have to tear your boat apart :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Are you just here for people to tell you how to "rig" your boat, or do you want to do it right.

You know, you need at least BASIC mechanical skills if you want to own a boat.

Best of luck to you, I'm done here, hope you don't kill anyone.

Okay.... I have to put on my Moderator hat....

1008com you have been given solutions to your boat hook problem. Access hatches are available in the iboats store and at most marina's.

I am going to lock up this post so it does not get real ugly and if / when you reach a solution please feel free to start a new thread.

Thank you everyone for your help and advice :)
