Thanks QC, I wasn't sure how to take that. LOL :)

I agree, it was a roundabout way to try to get heavy cruisers on plane and keep them there, but it did seem to work.

Re: Problem with Prop/pitch

Hello Again,
Sorry it took so long to get back to all of you but the website has been VERY slow to load for the past 2 days. I will try the muffs like you said and let you know what I get. The tach switch is set on 3 1/2 now so I will try it like that unless you suggest moving it to a lower position. I will have time this afternoon to get the rpms. Thank you again, Dago

Dago,

What tach manufacturer? There may be something online about the switch setting. The choices will match an OB, 4 cyl, V6 or V8 typically. Just need to know which is which . . .

Re: Problem with Prop/pitch

Sorry, I did make a mistake on the prop size that was on the boat last week. It is a 15 1/4 X 15. I just looked and it is a Mich. Wheel PM 215 cup. The new on in the box that I was given by the p.o. was a Hustler 14 1/4 X 17. He said that this was the replacement for the old broken prop. I know that this is not the right one but I can keep it onboard as an emergency spare. Does anyone know why the site is so slow? Thanks again, Dago

Dago, what are the other settings available on that tach? Are they dip switches? Or a rotary selector? I'm getting closer to figuring out that tach, but 3 1/2 doesn't make sense . . .

Re: Problem with Prop/pitch

HELLO again, Sorry it took so long to reply but this computer took a hard hit from a few viruses and needed repairs. The tach has a rotary selector. I do feel 1/2 increments between some #s but maybe the thing is old and faulty. It does aapear that someone had turned it before from the looks of the screwdriver gouges in it. It may have been turned past its limits. While running, it went on and off a few times. I turned the selector on the back and it would come back on. It is VERY touchy. I picked up a new tack and will have to try it out to see if in fact it is the tach or faulty wiring which I doubt. I did replace the trim tab motor and it is working great. The first one I installed would only work on occasion and would stick either all the way up or all the way down and pump would just whine. It did seem to plane out faster this past weekend. I was able to back off the throttle after plane and trim acordingly and she would stay on plane (unbelieveable). Because of the tach problem I was unable to get any reading. Top speed was still 30-32 mph. but that is probably because of the 15 1/4 X 15 that is on there now. I did put 75 gallons of fuel plus large cooler, wife and kids plus gear and it really didnt seem too bad. I could only plane at full throttle just before four barrel kicked in but that is probably all the weight. Any suggestions? I will install the new tach and get some #s ASAP. Thank You Again, Dago
