Hi, I have Yamaha F50 4 stroke outboard on my rib (2006) and two Yamaha digital multi function Gauge displays.

1 is Speed and Fuel, no problem working well

2 Is a Rev and Trim gauge(digital)

The Rev is working but the trim indicator(digital blocks) is not.

I have checked the back of the Yamaha Multi function Trim gauge and all the wiring looks intact.

I am not sure where to look next ie in the tile and trim or the outboard engine.

Can anyone advise what I can check next to make sure a wire isn't loose somewhere? or some switch isn't set?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Hi Gerry

The trim position stopped registering on my F40. The problem was the little switch on the transom bracket had seized. This is supposed to follow the motor as it rises and makes the digital blocks on the tach increase. If you still have a reading but it doesn't move thats likely what it is. I sprayed some contact cleaner into the switch and worked it back and forward a bit and it's working again.

These fail all the time due to being exposed to spray etc. Its right up in under the motor where it hinges with the transom bracket.

Cheers

Andy
