Hey everybody i have a 1987 force 125 hp outboard on a 19 ft bayliner. i just bought it from a buddy it was running great. i took it out fired right up idoled ran for good five hours on the lake. After i stopped to pick up a tuber i could not get it started for like 20 mins. finially after two batts an full throdle rev it up slammed in gear to get it moving an it only went about 10 15 mph back to dock. soon as i idoled back it died an couldnt get it started again. took home checked fuel filter everything plugs an all cleaned. ran on earmuffs like a champ. got to launch was a little rough starting but not bad. ran ok did about 35 mph to fising hole thought i was out of woods. sat there fished two hours an tried to move same thing as day before two batts to get it started wouldnt idol once i did an limped back to lauch at very slow speeds engine sounded good not running rough just wouldnt go. took to mech they had it a week finially came back an said i have no compresion in my bottom cylinders an basically im screwed. well one thing i know is the whole upper unit was rebuilt 18 months ago with maybe 20 hours on it since so before i keep putting money into mech. does have an idea im confused have a clue? tks

The rebuild might have been done right?
The tiny things that were or wern't done after is what kills an engine.
No oil or the wrong oil?
Carbs not set right?
Timing off?
Overheated?
Profile? Location? You might be close to someone who can help??

You should invest in a compression tester for less than $30. buy the thread in type instead of the push type. And then search this forum how to do it. It is not that hard and it will save you monies in the long run. Do the test yourself and then post results in here. And we will discuss your options from there.
