As time goes on, you're right, it will be harder to find technicians to work on an OMC. Here in Syracuse, we have a long-time Four Winns dealer who has sold a lot of boats with OMC over the years so their techs are working on them frequently any ways. In principle, outdrives are outdrives for the most part and most dealers will dive into the service for you for money regardless of the make.

You are fortunate. It sounds like you have a great dealer, That is a definite plus. Hold onto that connection.

I always frequent businesses that treat me right.

Well, I didn't buy the boat from them but I have purchased a part or two and that wasn't much of a problem. Being the son of tool and die maker who always fixed his own cars, boats etc., I'm pretty good with a service manual and wrench when I need to be. If it looks like it's (the job) is a job that is above my head, then I'll call them or a boat mechanic friend (he does the job better and is cheaper than any dealer so he is always my first option. Otherwise, I'll save service hours cost and do it myself. I fix all my toys and none them usually ever see a mechanic. Man, I'm glad I was paying attention as a kid around my father, and liked fixing things too. Hate paying someone else to do something I'm capable of.
