I'm new to the forum so if I am asking a question that has been asked and answered, just point me in the right direction. I have had lots of boats with mostly 305s or 350s in them. Now I am looking at a project with twin Mercruiser 470 engines. They purportedly have 600 hours on them. Are they worth using or are they better as an anchor? Need to know before I jump. Thanks in advance.

You'll generally find most people would run a mile when confronted with a single 470... The last one was made around 1989, so they are now AT LEAST 25 years old. Parts can be expensive and difficult to come by. However, if you are familiar with the engines and handy as a mechanic, they can be very good engines. If you need to have someone else work on them or are not familiar with their particular quirks, my I suggest you 'run-away'....
