I've been offered a 15hp Mariner, its been left on boat for long time without attention, it will not turn over. Can anyone suggest why this is so, and whether it would be better to attempt to free it by soaking through plug holes before stripping it down.

Nope.... strip it down, overhaul it, and get that confidence in it that comes with the job.

It's more time than money...

-W

hello
remove the lower unit first to isolate what part is locked up. if its the power head its only time lost to tear it down and determine what parts are locked.

Re: Project engine

Hello and thanks to you. Though I've used outrboards for years this will be my first project, my toolkit is however well used to other types of engines and if all goes pearshaped I can always "read the instructions" (if I had any). Peter
