I have an 83 OMC stern drive I am planning to sell. I took it out to the lake Saturday to make sure it was running good. I hadn't had it out since last Sept. I was cruising along in about 10 to 14 ft of water and crossed a sandbar and must have hit a rock and chipped my prop. I could feel the vibration immediately and my motor sounded like it was struggling so I got it out of the water. My question is, can an aluminum prop be fixed. I'm not gonna sell it like it is but I hate to sink a lot of money into either. It's a 21 degree 14 1/4 inch prop.

Re: Prop chips

You should post this in either the OMC stern drive or prop section of this forum. But you can take the prop to a prop shop and have it rebuilt.

Yes, the prop can be fixed good as new. Here in Dallas it is about $65 for an aluminum prop rebuild (not including the hub, $25).
