It is called a Tap and Die set. It resets the threads on the shaft. now look it up.

Thanks guys. I found it. Also talked w/a guy at Northern Tool and he told me they sell the tap & die kits and he also recommended a thread clean up tool that I might be able to get away with for $5 or $10. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there's an easy solution. I'll let you know how it works out.

Get the Dye. Take the nut to match the correct size. Don't just buy a kit and hope the right size is in it.

Make sure there is NO grease on the Shaft Threads when installing the nut. it needs to be completely clean to avoid what just happened.

That is the same nut that was on the old prop isn't it? There are a few different thread patterns for different lowers. Some metric and standard are Real close but cannot be interchanged. They will start then bind up.

Agreed. The guy at Northern Tool told me to do the same thing.

Good tip, thank you. You may have noticed in the picture that there was a little grease on the shaft and the nut, but I put that on after it got stuck a few times - thinking that might make it easier. But I'll clean everything off good before I start again.

Yes, same nut. I'll bring the nut into the store when I buy their kit and make sure I get the right size. I'm pretty sure it's metric as it took a 27mm socket. Thanks again!
