prop depth

i bought a pontoon boat an i am getting ready to install the motor where should the center of the prop be in the water in reguards to the bottom of the pontoons

The height (X dimension) depends largely on the style of your prop. Generally speaking with good brands, the more you spend the better prop you get. This is one area the you absolutely get what you pay for.

MRMOTO, the design of the floats, the speed of the boat and the size of the motor all play a hand in the height of the motor. It is a hit and miss affair to a degree with a toon but I would start off with the anti ventilation plate , the plate just above the prop, just about level to start with the bottom of the pontoons. Better too low to start off than to high. Work from that starting point. Hard to say exactly with out seeing the boat run. Have fun.

It would also be of some assistance if you could tell us the size of toon and the HP being mounted to it....<br />A 40HP on a 24ft'r is going to be mounted much different than a 200HP on a 28ft'r.
