prop for my Johson 20hp

I own a Lowe 1448 flat bottom jon boat with an 87 Johnson 20hp/tiller controled.I just changed my old michiganmatch 10/13 prop to a Solas 10/13 that my Johnson dealer had in stock.After testing it out,I hate it,cavitates/ventilates all the time and is slower.I had to drop my trim to the 2nd hole away from transom just to get it to run O.K.I used to have it set in the furthest hole back.When comparing it to the old MM prop,the solas had O rake where the MM was swept back(aft rake?).I ordered a tinytach so can determine my WOT RPM's.<br />In the mean time,i need a new prop.Is there a better alum prop than the MM,is there a good SS prop for my low hp application.I believe the 10/13 is the right one.

I think the OMC props, now available from Bombardier would be the best choice.

I found a local dealer who has the MM vortex alum props in stock.Has anyone used these?Any good?<br />thanks for the link Rick

Ended up going with the MM 10/13.Prop performs excellent even during tight cornering.My tach arrived and with just me at WOT I was hitting 5000RPM.I was told by a board member i should prop it for 5200RPM.Looks like i might need to go up a pitch. I'm still looking for reccomndations for a stainless prop and/or any users of the Vortx series alum prop.

if you need to go up in rpm, you go down in pitch, not up, going up will lower yur rpms and lug your motor<br /><br />m ikey
