Re: PROP GUARD or SWIM PLATFORM??

since your 210 and my old 190 were similar, you had to have the outdrive up to hit the prop. I know with the outdrive down, best you can do is bounce off the drive

Have some good friends on Fox Lake. from what I know, its usually wall to wall boating debauchery.

swim platforms usually are designed to fit specific hulls.

Sometimes people get pushed by other people and do not have the chance to exercise caution or "stick the landing" as they would like. Just saying, you are right to get something going to lessen the chances of that happening again.

Duh! ??. With a little modification it might fit?.. Especially for a third of the cost of what he was quoted.

Just thought I would throw it out there!

Re: PROP GUARD or SWIM PLATFORM??

We have a "Sandbar" on our lake where everyone pulls their boats up to. I've been worried about someone injuring themselves on the prop as I don't have a swim platform. Wouldn't you know my wife sliced up her leg pretty good last weekend. No stitches or anything but a good cut non the less. I think I am going to pickup one of these to hopefully avoid anyone else hurting themselves while we are "beached" on the Sandbar.

Re: PROP GUARD or SWIM PLATFORM??

Sounds like you have 'Jet boat' friends. Swim platform is my vote but yes expensive. My observations on swim platforms are that they don't increase value in the used market. It seems they should obviously and to me it'd be more desirable but routinely see identical boats a few years old priced the same with and without. I think the older the boat the more boats won't reveive extra $ in the sale price because of a swim platform. Of course I don't know the final sale prices so I could be off base in the end. Also then in my case, I couldn't fit the boat if it had a swim plaform in my garage. The extra foot and a half was too much. Every time I see a similar boat with a platform on the lake, I get platform envy. That said my little kids know to stay away from the prop but yes accidents can happen that's why they are called accidents.

There are some platforms that are designed with you in mind! I've seen some that have just two pins that you can pull, and the whole thing rotates up on hinges. Don't have any specific designs/brands that I'm aware of, just have seen them before.

What happens the one time you forget to take it off before un-beaching... :(

Also found this about it...:
"Although the description neglects to mention it, the packaging for this cover states that it will only work on up to a 12" prop, so this is definitely a cover for the prop on a smaller motor. "

Strap a life jacket to it when beached. Bright color & padded. - The platform would be awesome but for a quick fix...

Re: PROP GUARD or SWIM PLATFORM??

Even if you install a prop guard, there's still a huge chunk of metal (outdrive) hanging off the back of the boat and good chance someone could get mangled in the same scenerio... I'd install a swim platform if you are worried about this happening again.

Go with a swim platform if you are doing anything, a prop guard is a waste of money imho. I have never seen one used either.

I tried that a few weeks ago, but my life jacket's didn't seem to be big enough.
