Prop Installation Advice Needed

I've got a volvo penta duoprop. I dinged the back prop last weekend and have taken it and the front prop in to be checked out/reconditioned. I've got some questions about putting the props back on when I get them back.

1. I've got the manufacturer recommended lubricant, but do I lube just the drive shaft or also the inside of the prop?

2. How much lubricant should I use?

3. Volvo manual says to tighten the nut on the front prop to 45 ft. lb. and the rear to 50 ft. lb. How do I determine that?

Thanks much.

Just put plenty on the drive shaft and you will need a torque wrench to tighten them to the correct torque reading. Some of the time you can rent them from the larger auto parts stores. Hope this helps.

You can buy inexpensive beam style torque wrenches in the tool section at any home improvement store such as Lowes, Home Depot, etc.

Thanks for the responses. Very helpful. One more question, though. I bought a beam style torque wrench at Sears, but the nut for the front prop requires a special wrench. (See link below or attachment). How do I tighten that nut to the required ft lbs?
