prop selection?

Sorry for the long post but I need a little direction on finding a prop for my new boat/motor. I just completed building a Bateau OB17, it's a 17' epoxy/glass/marine ply composite center console. V-bottom I guess (6 degree deadrise at transom). It also has a skeg about 1.25" that runs all the way to the transom (could be cut back 18" if necessary). The motor is a new 70hp Yamaha 2 stroke, 2.33 gears, operating range is 5-6000rpm. The normal operating load would be around 1500lbs. It's a very light boat due to it's construction and kind of throws off any of the prop selectors I have looked at. I was thinking of starting with a 13x17 or a 13x19 aluminum Michigan Vortex prop to start. To add a little more confusion I believe those aluminum props are cupped. I understand the basics with aluminum vs ss but I need a baseline prop to start with and once it's dialed go for the ss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: prop selection?

Welcome aboard!!
Any prop you try, within reason, will "be" our baseline prop, and a 17, I think, would be a good starting point.

Thanks for the reply. I'll go with the 17 for now and will get back to you guys with some numbers.
