Ok, so I have a 1993 Stratos 250v 15'6" with a johnson 70 2 stroke, I have a run of the mill alluminum 17 pitch prop right now.
Its right on the bare edge of not being able to get on plane. So much so that if I put my trolling motor batteries in the back I can't get on plane.
I also have smart tabs installed. I guess I can just crank them down a bit and that will be my first step. I am thinking about switching to a 4 blade prop to help get out of the water.
I would like to try and stay with a 17 as the RPM's are good and the top end speed is good, so don't just want to drop down to a 15.
Would there be much of a difference in performance between a 4 blade alluminum ove rht 3 blad alluminum in the same pitch? Or would i need to go to SS to see any noticable hol shot gain.
Also would adding say a 6" jack plate with a hole shot plate add much as far as getting on plane?
