On a 1962 Century Resorter can anyone tell me if there is supposed to be any type of prop shaft support where the shaft comes thru the hull of this boat. There is a support on the propeller end of the shaft and I have a feeling there should be one on the thru hull end also. This is a restoration project. The boat itself is done but am trying to get the mechanicals hooked up now.

Thanks

Every straight inboard I've had (7) there is no inside support there is a through hull attached to the keel with a gland attached for the shaft to pass through. The gland can be adjusted just tight enough so an occasional drip comes through. This allows it to stay cool in operation. The shaft has a flange that attaches to the transmission. and the motor/transmission needs to be aligned with the shaft.
I just remembered my first inboard a 53 Chris Craft.

Would it be possible to contact you by phone. I have a couple of other questions relating to this that would probably be easier to talk about in person by phone.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,... I've never seen an in-board with an extra shaft support, you seem to think it missin',....

It would make alignment, nearly Impossible....

I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination but the 40 or so inboards I looked at before buying our supra none of them had a support other than the strut behind the prop.

Two that I looked at where century inboards.
