i have a 2006 2stk 70 yamaha with its OEM aluminum 13 1/4" x 17 prop. I also have another prop for the boat that i have not tried yet, its a Solas stainless steel prop, also a 13 1/4" x 17. Solas prop is the same size but has a different shape to the blades. They are more rounded overall (how most props look) than the factory yamaha aluminum prop which has a straight trailing edge with only the very tip rounded. Its almost more similar to a cleaver prop blade shape but without the sharp tip. This shape difference between the two props must make them perform differently right? what should i expect switching to the SS Solar prop?

Also the SS Solas prop is much heavier than the OEM aluminum one, does this affect performance at all?

Ayuh,....

You'll probably get more bow lift with the round ear prop,...

The Weight means little or Nothing....

Good to know. Im looking for more speed (who isnt?). I would like to get more rpms out of the motor since the most I can get is 5600 now, shooting for 6000. Im hoping the SS prop will help me get closer. The boat is a 16ft semi-v that weighs just over 700lbs dry and it lifts the bow in a hurry already, particularly if i trim it up as high as possible. The boat has a VERY shallow v at the transom and the motor is mounted so that the anti-ventilation plate is pretty much dead even with the bottom of the v.
