Your prop is probably spun out. There is a rubber bushing between the prop, and prop hub. This absorbs shocks when your motor is put into gear. Occasionally they will spin inside the prop, and once this happens, they will need to be re-hubbed. If you remove the prop, do you see spiral wear rings on the thrust washer, and prop/ prop hub? If this is not clearly apparent, a magic marker can be used to draw a line between the prop/ prop hub, reinstall the prop, and run the motor remove the prop and see if the lines are gone, or don't line up. this would indicate a spun hub.
