I HAVE A 78' CREST PONTOON THAT I CUSTOMIZED AND NAMED WOODY. I PICKED UP A NICE 95' MARINER 50HP 3CYLINDER FOR IT. I ADDED A TACH AND LAST NIGHT I WAS ONLY HITTING 4300 RPMS. THE MARINER CAME OFF A 18 FOOT FISHING BOAT, SO I KNOW THAT I'M PROPPED WRONG. ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR PROPER PROPPING?

I think you need to drop about 5 or 6" in pitch. what is the prop on it now that's giving you 4300 rpm ?

if it's a 17 drop to an 11 or 12

if it's a 15 drop to 9 or 10

Not sure on the exact prop at this time. I had my neighbor at the campground look to find the pitch numbers, but he said he couldn't see any on the prop...I do know that it pushed that 18ft aluminum 45mph, so possibly a 17.

I took the boat out tonight again. I was getting around 4450rpms. So I was slightly off before. I pulled the prop and its a 10.75 X 12.... Any suggestions?
