Seem to have a lot of slack in my throttle controls. Thought that it might just be an adjustment but now I'm not so sure. I have a 91 Bayliner and obviously this 1984 90 HP V4 Evinrude is not the original motor. The controls are most likely the original controls on the boat. It is a single lever, pull neutral control box with US Marine on it. I worked the throttle in the neutral position and watched what happens in the motor. It seems like I can move the throttle about 6 inches without anything engaging. I looked at the cables back at the motor and they look as though they are adjusted as far as you can go with them. I started looking at the controls and unfortunately wasn't able to pull the entire unit out. The control box is mounted on the starboard side of the boat with the cables inside the trim board. I've had another boat that had a Evinrude on it and those cables always came out of the back of the control box(end). The control box doesn't have the ignition key connected to it, that is mounted on the dash. Looking at what I could see in the controls (dang near have to be double jointed to see under there) and it seems to me that the adjustment problem may be in the control box itself. Would it be easier just to find the proper controls that belong to this motor or am I just spinning my wheels?
