That looks a lot like a gunk that we see when E gas and water combine. Because the pump on that style of carb doesn't have a lot of turbulence or velocity in it, the stuff can accumulate there, instead of passing into the carb bowl. If the stuff is due to dissolved water (instead of free water), a water-separating filter will capture some, but not all of it. OTOH, a water separator is never a bad idea. E is an aggressive solvent, which dissolves water and other things in the storage and delivery systems. Odds are that once the fuel stations, your tanks, and your motors have flushed all the dissolved stuff out, your problems will get somewhat better. Meanwhile, expect to clean that stuff periodically. Yes welcome to E8 gas world, can't imagine what E10 does, to understand better the overall idea, our gas stations seems don't use water separator filters, just standard fuel filters, so you are already buying water in the fuel. Clean periodically my 6 gal tank, have not found water floating on translucent container as to spot water issues, as always run fresh gas, as you tech state, seems it's a disolved water instead of free water issue.

Am I expermienting a water separation phase inside gas pump ? If placing a water separator filter, will expect in the short run pump diaphragms early failures/balloning, because of more diaphragm work that using no filters at all ?

Luis, you would need a chemist to tell you whether pressure/vacuum alternations (in the pump) could trigger phase separation. Possible, I suppose, but I have no qualifications to render an opinion one way or another.

Yes, the more restrictions you place in the suction side, the harder your pump works. But most water separators are rather free-flowing, and are good for the fuel flows of at least 150 hp motors, so your smaller motors probably won't even notice it. No worse than mounting the tank a few inches lower in the boat.

We have had good reports from some of our customers who are using "Baja" style filters when filling tanks. Catches an amazing amount of foreign stuff, including water droplets that are otherwise "invisible" in the fuel.

Good information Paul, where is it possible to buy those Baja style filters ? One last question. As E is by pasing small tank filter and pump filter, both having tiny mesh screens, wouldn't it be better to remove pump filter and place a good quality motorbike fuel filter, the ones that has yellow like screen ? Probably will trap what forms that white pellet stuff before going into the carb's passage and avoid premature clog. Any ideas ?

Don't run any filter tighter than 10 microns, or you may risk fuel starvation, and lean conditions -- leading to a burned piston -- at WOT. The Baja filter funnels are available at most good chandleries and boat dealers, as well as online. http://www.myboatsgear.com/mbg/product.asp?prodID=830

Treat the fuel. Sta Bil or SeaFoam, your choice.

I've had zero issues since I started doing that. I leave the systems full but treated.

Thanks, but those products to treat gasoline are not available down here, the Company that harvest sugar crane to produce E has said nothing about E problems, be aware or how to remedy them, just making huge profits out of us users, seems the Boating Association & fishermen will end suing them for sure....
