Proper size outboard for Lund SSV-16

I am considering replacing my current 1997 Lund SV 14/25hp Johnson
with a New SSV 16 / Evinrude 30Hp E-tech. I use it for casual fishing, river trips, lakes etc.
My current boat maxes out at sea level (13" prop) at 25 mph with 2 adults
aboard. I would like my new rig to max out at 30mph so I can cruise at 25. The
other boat I'm considering is the Sylvan 1600 Super Snapper, same engine. Anybody got any experience with these boat engine setups? I like Duroboat
too but no dealers around here(Colorado) Both these boats are rated for 40 hp max but I think 25/30 hp engines are better for trolling and lighter( I like tiller steering ). Also realize I loose about 2 mph up here (5200') even dropping down to my 11" prop. Sylvan vs Lund any thoughts?

Also just raised my current 25 hp Johnson up 1 mounting hole with a little block on top of the transom
some say this will give more speed without effecting handling anti cav plate is now even with the boat bottom have not water tested yet any thoughts there?
All being discussed are 20" transoms. Have had an unbelievable amount of fun and enjoyment with my current boat for the last 12 years.

No experience with that particular set-up but I think a 30 is marginal if you truely want .
I'm running a 07'Mirrocraft outfitter 16 with very similar specs and the same 40 hp OB rating. I outfitted it with a 30hp 4 stroke Tiller (Tohatsu). With just myself and gear (including bow mont motor and extra bow battery), I can get 28-30 mph on a still day with a 10 pitch prop ( at near max RPM). When I load it down forward with another rider and gear, I get 25-26 top end with the same prop. I cruise @ 20-22 comfortably.
If you truely want 30 mph out of the rigged for fishing boat with 2 people , go with the 40 or at least a 35 and be sure to rig the boat and prop it carefully.
Worth noting is that a 30 JUST falls within the 70% rule stated above and that most of us use as BARE MINIMUM.

BTW, Mercury Marine's site has some interesting engine tests posted on their site using 16' Lunds as test boats. You should browse ( keeping in mind that they are testign with 25 and 30 4 stroke mercs/Tohatus)

I have a 16 foot Lund with a 2000 model year 30 hp Johnson, with the controls (steering wheel, etc). It moves along well, at about 30 mph at WOT.

When I bought the boat it had a 50 Merc on it, which I took off because the lake I wanted to use it on had a lower horsepower limit. The 50 was over what the boat is rated for, but it handled it well and was very fast for a small, light boat.

As you already know, for boats in this class, Lunds are very good boats.

Thanks for the info guys. Most likely will stick with another Lund because they
seem to be so tough. Does anybody have any experience with the Sylvan
Super Snapper in either the 14 or 16 foot models? I like the layout and specs on those boats too but don't have any first hand info on how well they ride or hold up.
When I get the new setup I will use a tach to get it propped just right but if
I need to raise the engine a bit on the transom to get the anti cav plate just the right height is it necessary to use a block on top of the transom with a bolted on motor in the 30hp class. Wondering what you guys think I've heard lots of opinions.
