I am new here (Hi all) and sort of new to boating as well. I am fixing up a 1993 evinrude 48 spl (e48eslete) I have some sparkplug wires measuring about 7.25 inches. I don't think they are correct. I am trying to find out what the correct length should be.

Thanks
Bobby

Are they solid wire core ?-----Just make them so they fit nice.----Nothing special.------Are there issues with the running of the motor ?----If so what trouble shooting has been done ?

They are stranded. The engine is very slow even at full throttle and will not idle. As well it is very difficult to restart... Though many times it will cold start fine.
So after resting the boat a couple of times I replaced the plugs( the boat sat for a couple of years seemed a good place to start) After changing the plugs no change in the behavior. So I planned to replace the wires... I pulled the boot off one completely while removing the wire. Then removing the plug I noticed one was still clean and shiny. I think the wire was corroded to the point of breaking within the boot. Looking around on line nothing matched up with the 7.25 length I have. I tried finding evinrude specs but did not turn up anything. I saw 6, 9, and 12 inch wires available. I am used to automotive wires, marine is new to me. I did read something about evinrude carbureted engines needing to be asnclose to zero ohms as possible? If so what am I looking for in a reading?

What real trouble shooting has been done?----Somehow I doubt that the wires are the issue.----Compression tested ?-----If boat sat for years the carburetor might be partially plugged.

Right now I am looking to order replacement wires since I broke one. Any thoughts on a recommended wire?

depending on coils adaptibility 7mm is the usual & copper core stranded

engine repair shops have it same with motor bike shops and Amazon about 2$ a foot

I just buy automotive wire with boots . some coils are prewired at the factory and replacement is more $$$$ because you can't change just the wire
Price seems to have doubled lately... must be covid :) it gets all the blame these days
