Pull tube keeps submarineing

Admins- sorry if I posted this in the wrong section

We have a connelly tube which completely nose dives right away. If everyone leans back and pulls up, they "sometimes" can keep it from diving down. Forget going slow - it dives right away. Our last tube was good to go at any speed and didn't nose dive.

Has anyone else had this issue and what did you do to correct it? I'm thinking the o-ring for the rope might be sewn in too high thereby pulling the tube down?

Tanks!

Make sure there is enough air in it. I researched the heck out of tubes before I spent a chunk of change and a lot of the sites said that was a huge part of tubes submarining. I pump mine up to where I can push it down by hand about 2 inches.

Oldjeep,
that tube in the link looks like fun but I'm not sure it will solve my issue :D Is there another type of ball you are referring to?

Choppywaters- I read the same thing and pumped mine until the pump wasn't actually pushing any more air into the tube- it was better, but it still dove like a rock. I suppose I could purchase a stronger pump but I'm not sure that's worth it for just one tube.

I have one tube that has two strap "loops" on the front, the proper way to hook it up is to put the top loop through the bottom one, and attach the line to the top loop. This provides lift.

With all my tubes I throttle up slowly until the tube appears to be "on plane", then hit it. Sounds like you have experience with tubes though.

I have a big mable tube and I need to use a hand pump to finish the job because the electric one cant do it enough.

Thats not a tube in the link. It is called a booster ball and it goes on the tow rope.

We had the same problem and cured it with full inflation and getting it on a plane as quick as possible. I thought that slow acceleration was the best way at first. Wrong. Ours cant be finessed up onto the water but instead needs a good hammer down yank up and onto the surface. Once up i can throttle back. We're only talking about ten to fifteen feet then you are good.

I think he is referring to the Booster Ball. It might help but for 100 bucks just for the ball, I might look into another tube because if it submarines that bad the ball might not help that much. What tube is it? As far as a pump goes, I just bought a dual action Airhead at Dicks Sports for like 20 bucks. They also carry them at Wally Mart for around the same price. But like you said before, if they anchored the tow strap on the higher side of the tube then your going to have a tough time. We ended up buying a "super cross 2" its an awesome tube so far.

Try a smaller/lighter tow rope first, probably the cheapest fix (had the same problem last summer and this did the trick). If that doesn't work I try the Booster Ball.

1. Make sure the tube is absolutely aired up as much as you can.
2. Simply have the riders move their weight towards the back of the tube until you're on plane. The submarining happens when they have their weight on the front of the tube when starting out, which forces the front of the tube underwater.
3. The booster ball isn't designed for this problem, it's designed to combat the rope dragging in the water due to really low attachment points on the boat's transom.
