I'm thinking about getting a class C motorhome and pulling my boat and launching my boat at the boat ramp with it, any words of wisdom on this idea?

depends on the boat and the ramp

FYI many lake campgrounds have a tractor or pickup and will launch your boat for free with a paid campsite

The boat I was thinking of is, if I can get what I want by then, a Carolina Skiff DLX 2790 w/200 Mercury & a tandem axle trailer! Or DLX 2480 w/150 Merc! I know, Dream on!

Two things that make it a little tough... 1) Length of the motorhome. If you have a ramp that has a sudden transition from level to ramp, you could possible get yourself high centered on it. 2) width. Its TOUGH to back a trailer behind a motorhome, the trailer is already out of shape by the time its visible in your mirrors. There is a reason most motorhomes have a front mounted hitch also, specifically for this purpose. (although a rear view backup camera would be a relatively cheap solution for that)

+1 on all of that, just wanted to add that the length of the motorhome can also be trouble in turning radius depending on how much room is near the ramp. It takes longer to straighten out the trailer when the tow motor has a long wheelbase.

One thing that helps when backing a narrow trailer (or just a wide tow motor) is to lay a 2x4 or other long "stick" across the top, and put flags on the end so that you can see it turning sooner.

thanks for all the replies, you all gave me some things to think about, and the motorhome I'm thinking of is possibly 30' long with a tag axle!

yeah, 30' is going to definitely restrict the ramps you can use just for the fact of getting hung up/scraping the bottom.

and when you're scraping the bottom, you are scraping tanks, piping, battery boxes, under storage area etc, not just frame

one of the first things that usually gets hit is the black water tank. Its generally centrally located and fairly low, the freshwater tank is usually higher. And you do NOT want to rupture that tank on a ramp. Lots of very unhappy people plus more EPA fines than you can imagine!

Re: Pulling boat with Class C motorhome

The width of your trailer can make easy or extremely difficult. I towed my previous 18' boat behind our 26' class C for the last 4 seasons with no problems. The old Easy Loader was just wide enough to barely see the fenders in the rear view mirrors. My motorhome also has a large window in the very back that I put a convex/fisheye static clingy thing on it. It helps quite a bit for seeing the boat or the Jeep behind me. The new to me boat is 20', and wider than the last one and it is even easier to back down the ramp. Since we traded the pickup camper for the motorhome, we always look for places to camp that have moorage. As stated above, some of these places have a launch and retrieve service, but I have never used them.

I pull my 20' Reinell hardtop with a 150 hp Yammi on 24" Gil bracket behinde a 22' class A MH. I extended the rear frame and moved the bumper back about 30" to accommodate an aluminum diamond plate tool box. Then I installed Firestone rear airbags so that the rear overhang doesn't drag on those steep gas station driveways or campsite speed bumps. Where I fish, there aren't any launch/retrieve services but I've never had any problem at any of the ramps.
Easy enough to learn backing up using the side mirrors..."if you can't see the boat/trailer from either side, then it's position directly straight behind you" ;) .

Many class C motorhomes have tow limits of 5K. More to do with the hitch setup more than anything else. Need to consult the specs for the motorhome. Both of those boats will exceed 5K

There has been an immense space for the competition and there seems to be many factors that shape the highly competitive landscape of the phoenix rv rental industry. Competition originates basically from two major sources throughout the industrial chain. On the consumer?s end, the competition is extremely fierce not only because the market had been saturated and is well secured by the industry?s leader, the Enterprise.

At present, nearly 1.

Re: Pulling boat with Class C motorhome

I had a 31' Class A MH, with about 10' of body behind the rear wheels. Once, on a shallow ramp, a guy was shouting at me as I backed my boat into the water. Turns out I had almost dunked the back of the MH into the water! That would NOT have been a good thing! The next time, I paid the $10 to have their tractor do it, and paid for a slip for the weekend. Made things SO NICE! We fished in the morning, came back to the RV for breakfast, took a group out for a spin, came back in for lunch, took the kids out for tubing, then back to the RV for pool swimming, then I went out fishing at dusk, and at 9pm tied up at my well-lighted slip. The next day, same thing, except I paid another $10 to have their tractor pull my boat out of the water and move it to a place where it was easy to hitch up. Afterwards, though, the kid on the tractor asked "You DID drain your RV's holding tank already, didn't you?" I was out of cash and not in a place where I could leave the boat,so I had to drag the boat around the campground and maneuver to the clean out station. A pain. But I learned a lesson! :)
