I just bought a System Check tach on ebay to replace my old one on my 1997 Evinrude 50hp. The new tach states on the back "For use on 5-6 pul/rev alternator equipped outboards". <br /><br />Will this work with my outboard?
hello<br /> I think if your motor uses the 4 wire rectifier it uses 5 pulses. the 3 wire used 6. maybe seahorse or dhadly,or Joe will chip in. you may also ask to move this post to the J/E section.
My books do not show an SPL 50 for 1997. Look to see if you have a finned regulator on it. If so, set at #6. If you only have a "round" rectifier with 3 yellow wires, set on #5.
