I will be purchasing a new and bigger boat within the next few months.....I currently run a 3.7 mercruiser with the closed cooling system in her and the winterization process really is a quick one....The next boat I get will probably be using the sea water to cool the motor so the question I have is this, what is the winterization process for winterizing a motor that is cooled by the sea water, and can it be done in the driveway?
Thanks.

Re: purchasing new boat

Yes, driveways are particularly well-suited for winterizing an I/O engine. There has been quite some discussion over the years on proper and best methods of winterization. (1) running Marine/RV anti-freeze through it . . . or . . . (2) just draining everything.

I actually do both . . . run the anti-freeze, then drain everything.

Depending on the type of engine that you get, you may have a few more specifics. But we don't generally talk about the big "W" until September or October.
