went to the charleston boat show this weekend looking at boats.

ended up putting a deposit down on a 2014 21' sea skiff by carolina skiff with a 115hp 4-stroke suzuki w/hydraulic steering.

single axle torsion axle trailer and they tossed in a bow cushion for free. comes with all safety equipment and a full tank of gas. meeting this afternoon to do a sea trial and also test fit it in our driveway to see if it even fits in there

Price is $27k out the door. I'm wondering if this is a good deal honestly? its a brand new model from carolina skiff, they didnt even have brochures for it yet so its kind of hard to search online and compare at other dealers.

brochure online:

here it is!

Glad to see someone stimulating the economy!
Sounds reasonable to me for a name brand and all new...
ENJOY! :fish2:

looks good--reminds me of a scout hull. looks like a fairly flat bottom and flattened bow; more of a bay boat design than deep V. Good for shallows; may be a little wet in windy chop.
Despite the problems and CS's handling their attempt at the pontoon boat, it's a good brand

consider adding a bimini

That's a reasonable price - that's a good boat, motor and trailer! Enjoy.

Congrats, nice looking, enjoy that,, is that a good deal? I have no idea.. personaly, from a financial standpoint, I think new boats are horribly over priced, I was at a boat show in Syracuse in March.. the 20ft cuddy I have and paid $2500 for, would cost me $40K minimum there.. same boat? no, does it do the same thing, yes... a 12ft row boat with a 9.9 was 5K...lol........I do the used boat thing and fix it up....only way Im in the game.. enjoy!

Check with Chatliee Marine in Sanford. They have really low prices.

Those Suzuki's sound like sowing machines....extremely quiet. A friend of mine has a 150 and you can't tell it's on when idling. Congratulations. I like the Robins Egg color!

Re: put a deposit on a boat

yeah, we both love the color as well. the other color we liked was the pastel yellow color.

got a sea trial setup for this afternoon and the guy is going to bring it by the house first so we can make sure the boat (trailer) is actually able to fit in our driveway. I'd hate to take it on a sea trial only for it not to be able to make it past our front fence or my neighbor's oak tree!

One quick question, I'm going to get a tape measure and measure the width of the boat (not going by the spec sheet which says 8' beam...instead going by actual measurement) If it is 8' from port to starboard I can still use a 7' bimini top or not?

I was looking on here and it looks like 7' is as wide as they go?

Re: put a deposit on a boat

take your measurement... iboats may only offer up to that wide, get on web, most offer 91-96 inch beam width, that you need... remember with figuring out height of bimini the height you want is from the side rail up, not from floor up... ie- a 54 inch bimini, add from floor up to side rail to 54 inches to get actual height above your head when standing in the boat... if you fish,, get a tall one

Re: put a deposit on a boat

yeah I was going to do the same thing I did on my last boat when I got the top for it. I'm gonna grab my neighbor who is 6'4" tall and have him stand where I want the middle of the top to install...then measure based off of him haha. that way if he fits, I know everyone else will lol.

I guess it was something to do with the mobile version of this site but I was able to find wider tops today on my work computer. weird.

Regarding 7' width tops, if you mount on the inside of the gunnels then 7' may end up being about right or may even a little too wide.
