Re: PW2's fist round picks

hahaha....it was the huskies that got whooped on! Look at the stats. The only thing the Huskies did better was shoot FT's.....39 to 11 to be exact. And as it has been agreed by most, Illini got hosed by the refs in the second half. Washington shot 21 FT's in the second half......Illini shot 2....both with 15 seconds left. I don't care what team you are, that does not happen, ever.

Congrats to the Huskies for making it to the Sweet 16....but I can't say the better team won. Also, Brandon Roy is one of the best players in College basketball.

& to see the Gonzaga boys spank Indiana....
BTW, the only thing that matters is that UW scored more points .....
That's how you win games last time I checked ;)
I agree with respect to Brandon Roy.....Thankfully he had the good sense to come play ball in Emerald City.....
Thanks a bunch!.... ;) :p :D ......JK

Re: PW2's fist round picks

Well, let's see. They didn't follow my script, for some reason. Still the Huskies (UW) won, and the Pac 10 is making their presence known.

Note to Illini fans: If you don't want the opposing team to go to the foul line, don't foul so much. The only comment from the announcers I heard on the refs was a blocking call on Brandon Roy that was clearly a charge. Bilas said "If that was not a charge, there is no such thing as a charge"

I'm not out of it yet!

And my rant of the day: I paid $59 to direct TV to be able to watch all the games, but they black out the game the local CBS affiliate is supposed to be airing. So I missed the entire first half of the Husky game while they showed the Tennessee game, while the Husky game was blacked out! I could watch the Tennessee game on three different channels, however. Thanks, CBS!

Well, I think I am oficially out of it now!

Who'd a thunk that Albany would lose to Connecticut?

At least I can absolutely guarantee a Husky win on friday nite, and all of the Big 10 schools are done, so all's well that ends well!

Re: PW2's fist round picks

Both my final teams are still in, so I am gonna put a hurtin' on PW, but I took a world of hurt yesterday. Ohio State and Illini were not to go out like that. Illini out played the Huskies in every aspect of the game except points (yes, they out fouled Washington - I do think the officiating was a little one sided, but then, the final score is what matters and Illini just kept putting themselves in a position to let the officials take it out of their hands).

PW2, your are still in second place, and you are gonna stay that way throughout the remainder of the Madness!

Conservatives 1
Liberals 0
:D

Mighty quiet out there, Aspeck?

I guess the cream does indeed rise to the top.

It was a heartbreaking loss for my game UW Huskies last nite. They had chances to win the game, and perhaps they even should have won the game...

But what can you say when every player on both teams put out maximum effort for 40 minutes plus 5 extra minutes of OT? Someone's got to win, and someone's got to lose. Oh Well!

Brandon Roy is a class kid, and I hope he does great in the pros! He sure did his University proud, for all 4 years!

Next Year is the year

Re: PW2's fist round picks

Yea, PW, it was a rough round for me! I did get to see the last 5 minutes of regulation plus the overtime of the UW game. The officiating seemed equally poor for both sides, but the players sure left it out there on the court. One whale of an ending. If Appleby (or Applesomething) had taken it to the hoop instead of kicking it out for the steal it would have been a different game.

Congrats, PW, you beat me in the brackets. Barely, but you beat me.

Re: PW2's fist round picks

I understand why Appleby did not take it to the hole in the final seconds of overtime down by two. We had 3 or 4 of our big guys fouled out by then, and there was no way we were going to survive another 5 minute OT period. We needed to win it right then with a three.

The two key plays in the game involving the officials:
1. The double technical on Brandon Roy and Gay, that gave Roy his 4th foul and forced him to sit for 10 minutes of the 4th quarter. Even Calhoun said that should not have been called, and there was nothing to the incident.

2. Mike Jensen's foul in the final 11 secs of regulation, with UW up by 4. It gave the guy a 3 point play--the dawgs should have been up by 2 with two foul shots to go (which they made) And yes it was a foul. A major brain cramp.

The country gets to see the quality of ball played on the West Coast at least. UCLA is in the final 4, and it could just as easily been Gonzaga, and UW should have been joing them.

Re: PW2's fist round picks

Hey how long do one of these games last?
Say a 8:47 start time would be over when in a normal no overtime game?

Re: PW2's fist round picks

They usually last about two hours, or a little better.

My UCLA Bruins came thru last nite! In the espn challenge, there is a mere 440,000 entries (out of 3 mill) that scored better than me!
