Just curious to know if anyone has a clue as to how these work. I know how it senses and its operation.

Where they are used is in milkshake dispensing. As the shake mix rises in the cup, the sensor feels the sudden change in temp and shuts the draw handle. However due to the different flavors and texture of the shake, the level that the sensors activate is usually either to low or runs over the cup.

Now here is my problem. Usually employees manualy closes the draw valve. However the syrup/flavor of the previous shake will end up in the bottom of the next one. The pyroelelectric sensor signals the processor board and shuts off the syrup/flavor valve a few tenths of a second prior to activating the draw handle. This purges the syrup/flavor at the end of the draw cycle. This creates a white spot on top of the shake to indicate the draw valve is purged.

What I want to do is add a manual purge button vs manualy closing the draw valve. This would manualy give me the white spot on top of the shake. This sensor has 4 conductor + a ground.

Tech support at the manufacture will not disclose that information to me. Even though I'm factory certified, I'm not surpose to modify their engineering. :(

These sensors are a little pricey, so I need to research some before I cook a few.

So if anyone has any knowledge about these rascals, I could use some help. Thanks.....SS

Re: Pyroelectric sensors, Which wire does exactly what?

Thanks for the help. I'll pull a new sensor out of the box. According to that website, the sensor should only have 3 wires and a ground. My unit has 4 (I think) Will check it out today.

GQ, our valves that open and close the draw valve and syrup valve are actuated by pneumatics and controlled by a 24vac control circuit.

My object is to push a button to finish the draw valve cycle utilizing the white spot timer. With the difference in viscosity between the different flavors, some cups fill below the required level while others over fill the cup.

Again thanks for the help....We Can Due It! :D
