The manual lists both plugs for my engine. The first one is a surface gap plug and the other is a regular type plug. I have a 18' Crestliner Fish and Ski. I usually run around the lake around 5000 rpm's and don't idle that much or troll or anything. About the only time I idle is when moving through the no wake areas. Which one would be the best one for my engine?

The latest TSB says that engine takes Champion QL78C, which is what I have in it now, but it doesnt seem to run as well or start as easy as it did with the 15 year old original QL77JC4's that were in it so I want to go back to what the manual says regardless of the TSB.

I always go with what manufacture says, they spend lot of money and time to figure out the best performance for each particular application.

the QL77JC4 is a better plug and last longer.

Which manual? The owners manual that came with it or the TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) that OMC put out as an update to the manual? All three plugs are made for this motor and are readily available. This is why I was asking. Hope Joe Reeves or another OMC guy will chime in on this.
