Quad Seal???

Hello. another newbe here, and a quick question about the "quad seal" well as i was cleaning up my lower unit after i changed the water pump impeller and i seem to have lost it. now is that a "special" O-Ring or can i just get one out of my little O-Ring box that has all kinds of diff. shapes and sizes? kind of a stupid quiestion i know but like i said im new to the boating world and learning as i go. and the way my luck is it would be a special one and after i got it all back together something would be wrong and i would have to start all over.

Its a 1996 Mercruiser, with the Alpha I Gen II outdrive

I would not substitute that quad-ring seal with any thing else. If it leaks you just bought yourself a new gearcase for a $2.00 part. Best luck Bill

Thats a really good way to put it Captk, I guess I was gonna see about cutting a corner with what I had on hand but, guess i will make a trip to Somerset sometime next week and pick one up. THANKS!!

You can probably get one from NAPA ora store that carries sierra parts. Merc # 26-45577, sierra #18-2944. Good luck, Bill
