Hello!
Wives grandfathers boat, discovered under a mountain of pine needles a few years ago.
Brother in law removed the old transom and cut a new one out of oak.
No placard on the boat, I'm assuming it was on the old transom?
Googling lead me to another boat that is identical that says its a 79.
So far from trolling these forums I know not to use a steel wire wheel and that I don't need to strip the hull bare to apply new paint.
I'm going to make some new seats for it, the ones were rotted out badly.
Also the Styrofoam in below the benches had been turned into a mouse motel a long time ago.
I'm not sure what to do with the interior floor, I don't think I'll do anything unless it leaks.
Should I be testing that before I put the seats in?
I figure the boat needs the benches for structure, but I'm not sure.
Also the railing across the transom was cracked and bent, not sure what I can do to get that fixed or replaced.
Other than that it should be fairly straight forward.
I've cleaned half the hull with some mineral spirits and a 3m green pad to get rid of the pine pitch.
So far its pretty damn good.
It also came with a Gamefisher 7.5 which I hear might be fairly easy to restore as well.
We shall tackle that one as well!
Any advice or resources I'd be grateful!
