This just started happening recently. When I hook up the muffs to the engine and run the motor on the hose, water is coming from the pee hole and where the hose adapter connection is. It does this also when I'm out running the boat also. This never used to happen and nothing out of the ordinary happened, is this something to be worried about?

Engine runs great just seems weird that water is coming out of both while running when it used to not. -thanks!

The telltale is just a hole in the hose connection plug. It is supposed to funtion that way. Do you have the quick connect hose feature on that motor? If not, you might consider it. You wil then be able to flush the motor via the hose connection quite easily.

Re: Question about a 1997 Johnson 200 Oceanrunner

I do have the quick connect on the engine. Just put the adapter on the hose and plug it right in. My concern is that there is water coming out of both the telltale and the end of the quick connect at the same time when the motor is running. Water used to just come out of the tell tale and maybe about a couple of months ago this started.

Just wondering if this is something I should be concerned with. With the motor running on the muffs i tried to connect the quick connect adapter on just to see if it would fix the water coming out but that didn't work.

Thanks

The part of the quick connect that screws into the motor has a simple one way valve. Water could easily leak past it. It is just a dribble, right?

Dribble...no. It pours out at a really strong stream. It has more water flow than the telltale. Once I get back from vacation I'll be able to take a pic while it is running if needed.

Thanks

Remove the fitting and look inside it for the valve. Maybe something stuck it open. Seems to me that there is a plastic piece with an o ring for a seal. maybe the oring is gone?

Chris,
Sorry it took so long for a response. I ended up taking off the fitting and looking down it but there was nothing there that would clog it. I did notice that the valve was rough and sticking. I ended up replacing it and all is good now.

Here's a pic of what it was doing but it's all good now.

Thanks again for all the guidance.
