Question about valve lash

So to set valve lash you tighten the rocker nut until you can feel resistance in the push rod, then you tighten the nut an additional 3/4 or 1 full turn depending on specs.

My question is what is considered resistance on the pushrod? Is it when you can just start to feel some resistance while turning the pushrod?

Ayuh,... Forget resistence,... Everybody gets 'em Too Tight thinkin' that...

You're just trying to find the point where there's NO up/ down movement, then go another 3/4 turn..

Just to add to that. It certainly takes a "feel" to get it right. Right at the point you believe the slack has been removed, back the nut up a touch and verify that you have the right point. Then tighten it the 3/4 turn. I usually go back and forth a few times right at the point of slack removal to get just the right spot and then turn it down from there.
