questions about aftermarket aluminum outboard brackets: design, fabrication, for a Starcraft Chieftain

On any bracket install, there is more to it than just the bracket. The inside of the transom needs bracing to help the support the weight that is 18-24" or so further back from the transom.

The interior work is what separates the men from the boys.

hi, thanks for all the information so far.

I actually wasn't aware that I would need to do inside bracing... I've talked to at least 10 companies/individuals (including some "pros"?armstrong, etc) and none of them have mentioned that I would need to do anything. That's one my official "question list", so it always, always gets asked.

I've only been told that I just need to bolt it on, or I could have it welded, if I wanted.

So I need to brace the inside? That changes things. Is there any info out there about how to brace the inside? I tried to look it up here, but I don't even know what terms to search for!
