Thanks You.....Maybe I earned a smoke break now .

I'll continue this pump install tomorrow hopefully, the lake is calling my name, I got one more thing to do with the trolling motor, and change the route of the tell tale then I'll be done.

I am a little confused myself.I recently replaced my own impeller 1972_85hp rude. I did not see a o ring on the top of the drive shaft but i did see a recess there where it looks like one goes. Does any one know if one goes there?

The 1972 85HP driveshaft requires an o-ring at the top end of the shaft. It is needed to keep water out, and to help keep the Moly Lube in.

The o-ring is part number 0553127 and is shown on the water pump part of the gearcase diagram as # 86.

What if that oring slides out of it spot will it cause you to get water in the LU?????????
