Questions on tilt/trim rebuild on Evindude 48 spl

I replaced the seals in the cylinder cap and trim rod due to leaking fluid. When reinstalling the rod and piston I don't know how to bleed the air from the cylinder to get the piston into the cylinder. (or if I have to). Any advise would be a lifesaver. Also, do I fill the cylinder with fluid after reinserting the piston?
