Quick bellows questions

Hi all,
I'm thinking it's about time to change all the bellows on my boat (Alpha 1 Gen 2 outdrive). I've noticed you can buy kits with and without the gimbal bearing. I have no issues with my present bearing and I'm familiar with pulling off the outdrive. Is this something I can replace at a later date (after the bellows are done) or should I do it while I'm in there? Also, is one brand better than the other? I'm usually an OEM guy (30-803099T1), but there are several mfgs out there.

Just do it,then you know everything is over and done with. You should also do the lower shift cable at the same time,it has to come out anyway to do the shift bellow. My theory is, why ruin a good time by leaving one old part in?

Gimbal bearings last a LONG time – if – engine alignment is good and no water gets in them.
Most kits include them because most boat owners wait until there is a leak before replacing the bellow.
After 30 years of fixing boats for a living I have found OEM bellows and shift cables are worth it.
And I highly recommend doing the shift cable at the same time as the bellows.

I agree with muc - no sense in changing out a good bearing.
