Quick question on steering actuator

I will be needing to replace/repair my steering actuator soon. Access is very limited. Curious if it can be removed without removing the clevis pin that holds the steering cable. I think it will be very hard for me to reach that cotter pin, and if it is only holding the steering cable I think I can pull the actuator then remove that cotter/clevis pin.

Am I correct that only one clevis pin is attached to the steering arm on the transom shield and that the other clevis pin only holds the steering cable? Trying not to remove my port riser/manifold/exhaust bellows since boat is wet slipped. So I am trying to reach everything from the starboard side, cannot reach from above (no clearance at all above).

Thanks

Ayuh,..... That is correct, but removin' the 2nd retaining bolt is most likely goin' to require removing alot more stuff than you want too,.....
That 2nd bolt is below the one you see, pointed straight up,....

After I remove my waste holding tank which is on the starboard side of the boat I should be able to get my skinny frame all the way back to the transom so hopefully everything accessible on the starboard side including those two bolts I should be able to get pretty easily however I have not had my head all the way back there yet.

I am of course trying to avoid that because there is no easy way to pull the engines it's a Monterey 282 and the engines are actually beneath the deck and I'm not sure how you would slide it forward to the engine hatch but I guess where there's a will there's a way

Have a helper in case you get stuck back there

I got stuck between the front pulleys and bulkhead and was there for an hour before the neighbor heard me

Not much room, but got it out. Clevis pin attaching to the transom shield and tie rod was the biggest pain. And of course all my cotters were bent 300 billion degrees.. ..
