Just had a quick question about the need for winterizing in my particular situation. I just bought a boat thats equipped with a Mercury 500 ThunderBolt 50HP outboard.
The seller says the engine hasnt been run in years. Is there any danger of storing it outside in cold temps?
My local marina shop says they will do a "complete diagnostics/winterize" for $100.00 but even they said they would have to store it outside till they got to it (a few days).
I was going to take it too them tommorrow , but trailering a boat on snowy roads is a bit tricky :)
Should I take it in? Or just pull the battery, and leave it till it gets a bit warmer?
Thanks for your help.

If it's tilted down, it'll be peachy.

c/6
Hooty

Don't forget the gear lube! If there is any water in there it will freeze and could create a problem with the gearcase.
