quicksilver 3000 classic shifter

i am in the process of adjusting my throttle/shifter cables on the motor and i have the shift assist,spring loaded thingamajig. manual #14 states:

For Commander 3000 Controls, ​

if shift assist assembly attaching points do not align, verifycontroller is in the neutral position. Remove the shift cable and reposition the adjustmentbarrel as required to allow the shift assembly to be installed with no effort.
For ALL other controls
if shift assist assembly attaching points do not align, push in or​

pull out on end of shift assist assembly to install. Do not attempt to readjust shift cable.



so i need to know if the quicksilver 3000 classic shifter (the one i have) is the same as the commander 3000 shifter.

i put the shift assist on but i had to compress it maybe a 1/4 inch to align with the stud. if i do need to adjust the shift cable, which one am i adjusting...the one to the remote control or the one to the unit?

lastly it seems as though there is a lot of travel from full forward to reverse and vice versa...is that normal?

Classic 3000 is the same as Commander 3000...
You would be adjusting the barrel on the remote control shift cable, at the shift plate (engine) end. NOT the lower shift cable (that goes to the stern drive unit).
Travel on the remote control shift cable should be about 3" full forward to full reverse...

does anyone know where i can find a manual for the quicksilver 3000 or commander 3000 i want to make sure i get everything working correctly on it. Also if i ever want to take it apart to clean and regrease it or something.

another thing is i pulled the cables off the remote to check the operation of it and there were i think three different detents between forward and reverse positions. I thought only should be one for neutral. am i wrong
