Now that the law got passed last fall, that you have to be attached to the strap for the kill switch.
PROBLEM: Bought the boat used... ie....NO attachments that came with the boat originally.
Need the kill switch setup for the 3000.
Any help would be most appreciated.
thanks in advance...

Mercruiser dealer can get the stuff quickly and easily. It's just a plastic piece with a lanyard attached.

Thanks for the reply,MM.
Looking for a place online to get and shop before going down to dealer. Don't want to pay 5 times what it's worth. Not to mention, law just went into effect.
I know, it's worth it's weight in gold when needed.....BUT, still have 2 months or so before I go out. Just looking for a plastic piece (already got lanyard from BassPro).
again, thanks for the reply.

Hi Pier , I'm curious to know if this is a NV state law , or Fed Govt . I Feel it's a common sence law that should save a few lives. Keep safe.

West marine sells a lanyard with a bunch of different plastic pieces on it. Supposed to have one of each style and I'm certain it'll have the merc. I think it's $13.

Re: QuickSilver 3000

Actually there are two new Nevada boating laws that went into effect on Oct. 1, 2007:

New Nevada Boating Laws

On boats equipped with an engine cutoff lanyard, the operator is now required to wear the lanyard and have it attached to the boat anytime the boat is moving faster than a no wake speed, roughly five miles per hour. Boaters will not be required to wear the lanyard when performing docking maneuvers or while trolling for fish as long as they under the flat wake speed.

The second law increased the mandatory age for lifejacket wear from under 12 years of age to under 13. This is a guideline set by the National Transportation Safety Board, and many states already have under 13 as their mandatory lifejacket wear cut-off, such as Utah, Arizona and Idaho.

I like the second one due to consistency. On Mead, the National recreation area law and the Arizona law was under 13, the Nevada state law was under12, so effectively 11 year olds and under.

I absolutely hate the first one. It does, however, say "on boats equipped" . . . mine was not hooked up from the factory . . . I'd say it is not equipped.

Thanks Pierutrus, I might have missed those.
