I have 1978 johnson 25r78c outboard and i have been given a quicksilver control unit. The unit is old and the electrical part is not working, which is none of my concern since my boat is pull start. I managed to connect the throttle and shift cables, but securing them took a little creativeness with homemade screws etc... Also one of the cables has been under water for a while, it is stripped on some areas and half of it is rusted and kinda hard. Looks like its brittle and will break soon. I would like to replace this cable but I am not sure which control cable to buy. There is the 3000 series, then there is 600, 3300, how do i know which cable and connection kit to order?
