Hello everyone I have a question about my throttle control. While under load and cruising I have to hold my hand on my throttle or it will start backing off. What could be the problem? I'm running a 225 Monterey with a Merc 454 and quicksilver controls. Any help would be appreciated!

Most all controls have a friction adjustment, my guess is your needs to be tightened. There are many different throttle controls so you need to tells us what you have, or provide pics so we can figure it out, or go to the below link to find yours

Thanks AllDodge it seems to be the commander 3000 classic. Any advice on location of friction adjustment or how to adjust? Thanks!

There are also several classics but many use the same adjustment. In pic below see item 22 set screw

Ok I will check it out! It will be awhile before I'm back on the water. If that's not it could a bad/out of adjustment throttle cable have anything to do with it?
Thanks again for your help!
