Quicksilver oil filter

I noticed that the oil and fuel filters on my Mercruiser 4.3L MPI engines were replaced with the Quicksilver brand. My original filters were black Mercruiser brand and the replacement Quicksilver brand is white. Is this brand comparable to the original? I noticed that my Mercruiser manual suggests using the Quicksilver brand of high performance gear lube in for the sterndrive oil. Is Quicksilver owned by Mercruiser?

Mercruiser and Quicksilver are the same thing. Just different paint and packaging.

Yes, it's the brandname they use in aftermarket, like Mopar is used by Chrysler (cars) and ACDelco by GM.
