Re: QuickSilver vs Michigan Wheel ??
I contacted Kenny (AKA Walleyehed) and I have an update on this situation.
I must start by giving Kenny two BIG thumbs up for his help. Kenny offered to contact Precision Propeller and help arrange a return to the factory for inspection. I can't thank you enough Kenny, what a nice gesture on your part.
I received the Prop back from Precision just in time to give it a try this weekend. Precision made a note on the packing slip that they "Adjusted the hub". The prop runs noticeably better now. I still don't think it's as smooth as the other props I used to run, but it no longer shakes the entire boat, and I no longer fear that I am damaging my lower unit. I suppose the best way to describe it is "coarse".
Per suggestions from this forum I slowed my idle speed down (from 800 to 675) and the shift shock is completely gone.
I love the way my boat performs now, and I suspect that I'm getting better gas mileage, but it will take more time to confirm that.
I am now a firm believer that propping a carburated 2 stroke at the upper end of the RPM range is the proper thing to do. Even though the engine runs faster at a give boat speed, it sounds happier and less stressed than before.
So, bottom line is that for around $250.00 I feel like I've got a brand new boat.
Thanks to everyone (especially Kenny) for all the help !!

we need to take a look at the vibration issue....not typical of a stainless prop of Stiletto quality.
