Recently moved my JRC radar from one boat to another. When I run the radar now the display is inverted. The images that should be upper right are lower left..etc.

Any thoughts??? I have considered that I may have connected the wires with reverse polarity, which may cause the radar to turn in the opposite direction. But that is nothing more than a guess.

Any help would be appreciated

Re: Radar display

Which way did you point the antenna? If it was turned around 180 degrees you'd get that effect. It would look sort of odd with the cable comming out the front though.

Thom

Re: Radar display

First, make sure you didn't mount it backwards. That should be pretty obvious.

Second, is this an open array antenna or dome?

If open array, make sure you didn't put the radiator on backwards.

If dome, there is usually a magnet inside the scanner that the radiator passes over every time it turns. This is how the scanner knows where the bow is. This magnet's position is usually adjustable. Check your owner's manual to see if you have that (I know Furuno does and I imagine JRC would since they are similar) and the specifics on how to adjust it.

I don't think reversing a wire would cause that since the only feed down to the diplay is a coaxial video cable. The image is processed in the antenna. All of the other wires are just for controls.

Another, but less likely cause, is the sweep timing is not adjusted right, but unless you messed with it earlier, that shouldn't go bad.

Good Luck,

Peter

Re: Radar display

Thanks for the advice. I'm sure it is as simple as the unit being reversed.

Appreciate your help. I will confirm how things work out

Re: Radar display

It would have been easier if you just cruised around in reverse all the time. :D
