How are the rest of you in the Mid-Atlantic fairing?
I am off from work (bummer) but we are getting very little rain here on the Eastern Shore. I can see the rain over the Bay but the weather is staying just off our western coast.

It's kind of cool to watch it missing us by 2 miles.

Take care and don't try to drive through closed roads.

Re: rain event

It's pouring here. Fortunately I live about halfway down a steep hill and have a sloped lot. Pretty much zero chance of having any water issues at my house.

Re: rain event

Almost 2 inches of rain so far today, and pouring right now. Flood watch and advisory, but the stream by the house isn't even up to normal flow because it has been so dry. Had almost 2 inches of rain a couple days ago, too. Hard to believe how dry it has been. Guess I don't need to worry about forest fires now ... at least for a few days.

Re: rain event

My stream is now a raging river. My house is fine though, we built in in a good part of the property and basically the whole underside of the foundation is a giant drain, with a sump pump at the low point.

Many roads are closed, and all the schools closed early around here.

4-6 here in Allentown Pa.,and waiting for more. Maybe I will be able to get the boat into the Lehigh River in a few days. River was so low I was wading into alot of spots. This will also pump up the local lakes, hope the fishing gets better.

Bottle some of that up and send it to me! It sprinkled for about 15 min one day last month. That's all we've had since July.:(

Re: rain event

I just heard on the nightly news that Wilminton, NC got 22 inches over this most recent four day period. Showed lots of footage of raging rivers, flooded streets, etc.

Best of luck to all impacted by this "SuperSoaker" !

Re: rain event

Still raining and a little over 3.3 inches in the last 24 hours, a little over 5.2 since Monday. A couple of trees down, but all in all, the ground has just been soaking it up ... our low lying stream that ALWAYS floods only topped it's bank for about 15 minutes. It is back to normal height now.

This morining 2.7" fell in our rain gauge between 0630-0830. My 40 min commute was 2hrs 10 min this morning. 1-2ft of standing water on highways. Up to 5" expected today. After a brown summer from zero rain, everything looks so green just in time to fall off the trees!

Re: rain event

The sun is out now. Right in the center of the storm, which was over the bay and I95, some of the rainfall totals were ridiculous, 15" and 17"?!?!?!?!?!?!
I have a friend who personally had over 10 in his gauge.
That's nuts.

Re: rain event

wow,
the reporters were telling us to prep for that kind of rain but it mostly stayed over the Bay and to the west. I'm off again today due to the rain but we'll be working tomorrow to make it up. We did have a few downpours but only got about 5 inches at my house.

an incredible storm.
remain safe all.

Re: rain event

Its been raining hard on the north east coast for the last two days. Checked the sump pump in the basement this morning and there is water in the bottom. Typical when there is severe weather. I also checked the battery backup pump system and its good to go.

I built this house in 1992, and twice had about 2-6 inches of water in the basement. Both times from extreme weather conditions. That prompted me to put in the pump and battery backup when the basement was finished a few years ago. I hope the pumps do their job. So far, they have kept the basement dry.

The rain just keeps coming down. The weather forecast is for up to 6 inches of rain today.

Supposed to be sunny on Saturday. I hope so, thats when I pull the old Force outboard off my boat. Woo Hoo!
